The Utah Women & Leadership Project (UWLP) works to strengthen the impact of Utah girls and women by producing credible research, developing valuable resources, and hosting trainings and events that inspire learning, leadership, and positive change. Led by Dr. Susan R. Madsen at Utah State University Extension, UWLP focuses on elevating issues that affect women statewide and supporting communities with data-driven insights. In June 2023, UWLP launched A Bolder Way Forward (BWF), a seven‑year movement designed to accelerate progress for Utah women and families. Research shows persistent challenges—including high rates of domestic violence, sexual assault, child sexual abuse, and gender-based discrimination, alongside low levels of women’s leadership representation. At the current pace, meaningful improvement could take decades. BWF brings together county and statewide leaders to drive coordinated, grassroots impact. As the backbone organization, UWLP provides research, guidance, and collaboration to help Utah build a stronger, more equitable future for all.
